Welcome HH Photo Club Members!

October 18, 2007

The Harbor Hills Photo Club extends a hearty welcome to our new and old members!
Our first club meeting of the season welcomed two new photographers, Laurie Carpenter and Elaine King. Laurie had heard about the club a few weeks before the meeting and sent in some beautiful pictures that were snapped in Maine at Bah Habbah.

We looked at pictures of all attendees and two who sent photos but couldn’t attend. We admired both Dave Elie’s and Ted Drzewiecki’s photos in absentia. In general, there were several very fine shots of birds and low key landscapes. Thanks to all for sending us their pictures.

Following that, Barry did a Power Point presentation recap of what we learned last year, to reinforce and enhance our new found photo skills. The enthusiastic reception and discussion of this material prompted us to distribute hard copy at our next meeting for all to have.

For next month’s meeting we are trying a new project format. There will now be two picture categories, the assigned subject and anything else. For the November 9th meeting the assigned subject is a photo of any sport played at Harbor Hills. This could be of golf, tennis, horse shoes, fishing, boating, etc. Its your choice.

And the second picture could be anything you choose, landscape, animal, grandchild, flower, etc, etc. Its up to you. And as usual, send them to Barry at tamalemolly@gmail.com in time for the meeting.

We had planned to have Missey and Dick Sackett present their African Safari pictures in November, but this will be delayed to the December meeting. And our topic of discussion for November will be a short recap of what we learned last year, plus a fresh review of hidden Picasa features which should be of value to both new users and old. We plan to use Power Point and will make copies available to our members for reference.

TIP OF THE MONTH: Before taking photograph, Confucius say “best to remove finger from lens.”

NEXT MEETING: Friday, November 9 at 1:30PM in the clubhouse. See you there!
